The Rangers ended their 10-game losing streak by beating the Yankees, 3-2. Steve Hargan pitched the route, setting a Ranger club record for longest complete game. Both Yankee runs were unearned.

The Rangers tied the score in the ninth after Jeff Burroughs singled, Juan Beniquez took over on the paths and came home on a sacrifice and single by Lenny Randle. In the 12th, a pass to Jim Sundberg, a sacrifice, two-out intentional walk to Mike Hargrove and single by Beniquez, who remained in the game after his pinch-running appearance, gave the Rangers their victory.
