The Rangers tied the score in the ninth after Jeff Burroughs singled, Juan Beniquez took over on the paths and came home on a sacrifice and single by Lenny Randle. In the 12th, a pass to Jim Sundberg, a sacrifice, two-out intentional walk to Mike Hargrove and single by Beniquez, who remained in the game after his pinch-running appearance, gave the Rangers their victory.
