Paul Splittorff extended his Royals' club record to eight victories in a row by defeating the Brewers, 3-1, with help from Mark Littell. After the Brewers scored in the seventh inning, Littell relieved with two men on base and two out, walked George Scott to fill the sacks and then retired Hank Aaron on a pop fly.

Buck Martinez batted in the Royals' first two runs with grounders in the second and fourth. Singles by Frank White and Tom Poquette, around an infield out, produced the Royals' insurance run in the fifth. [The Sporting News]
