A two-run homer by Ellis Valentine carried the Expos to a 2-1 victory over the Cubs in the first game of a doubleheader and the Expos also won the afterpiece, 3-1, behind the three-hit pitching of Steve Dunning and Dale Murray. Valentine's homer came in the sixth after Steve Stone had pitched five hitless innings. Larry Parrish hit two doubles and a single for the Expos in the second game.
