In a meeting of two former Arizona State University teammates, Eddie Bane gained the decision over Jim Umbarger when the Twins edged the Rangers, 2-1. Bane pitched five innings before giving way to Bill Campbell, who finished and picked up his 10th save of the season. The Twins counted the deciding run in the fourth on singles by Butch Wynegar and Glenn Borgmann around a sacrifice by Steve Brye. [The Sporting News]
