Homers by Mickey Rivers and Carlos May, accounting for five runs, powered the Yankees to a 6-4 victory over the Red Sox. Rivers connected for the circuit with a man on base in the third inning, but the Red Sox came back to take a 4-2 lead before Rivers doubled in the eighth, Roy White walked and Thurman Munson singled to drive in Rivers.
