Homers by Mickey Rivers and Carlos May, accounting for five runs, powered the Yankees to a 6-4 victory over the Red Sox. Rivers connected for the circuit with a man on base in the third inning, but the Red Sox came back to take a 4-2 lead before Rivers doubled in the eighth, Roy White walked and Thurman Munson singled to drive in Rivers. With two out, May smashed his homer for three runs to provide the winning blow. [The Sporting News]
