Bruce Bochte rapped four hits, including a double and triple, and Tony Solaita smashed a two-run homer to lead the Angels' attack in a 9-6 victory over the Rangers. Nolan Ryan struck out five before departing in the ninth inning and raised his career total to 1,957, moving ahead of Whitey Ford into 31st place on the major leagues' list of all-time strikeout kings. The Angels, after taking a 4-1 lead, decided the final outcome with three runs in the fifth on a single by Bobby Bonds, Solaita's homer, Bochte's triple and a single by Dan Briggs.
