Tagging Catfish Hunter for all their runs in the third inning, the Brewers won the first game of a twi-night doubleheader, 4-3, but the Yankees came back to gain a split with a 7-2 victory in the second game. Starting Bthe rewers' outburst in the opener, Von Joshua singled and scored when Robin Yount doubled.

Yount took third on the throw to the plate and counted on a sacrifice fly by George Scott. Mike Hegan followed with a single and Sixto Lezcano capped the inning with a two-run homer. The Yankees' tallies off Bill Travers all came on a homer by Thurman Munson in sixth. In the nightcap, Munson accounted for two more RBIs with a single and infield out. [The Sporting News]
