. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Although having a big advantage in hits, 13-7, the Tigers were the victims of three double plays while losing to the Red Sox, 5-4. Each club hit two homers. Aurelio Rodriguez connected with a man on base for the Tigers in the second inning, but the Red Sox picked up the tying tallies and then went ahead when Rick Miller walked and Butch Hobson hit for the circuit in the sixth. Jim Rice added a homer in the eighth for what proved to be the winning run, offsetting a round-tripper by Bill Freehan for the Tigers in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
