Slump-ridden Fred Patek batted in two runs with a single in the sixth inning to break a 3-3 tie and sent the Royals on their way to a 6-4 victory over the Twins. Patek's hit was only his eighth since the All-Star break and the RBIs were his first since July 3. George Brett had three hits for the Royals, marking the 22nd time that the All-Star third baseman had rapped three or more hits in one game this season. [The Sporting News]
