Swinging at Phil Niekro's second pitch of the game, Gary Thomasson hit a homer and then doubled and scored in the third inning to bring the Giants a 2-1 victory over the Braves. Marty Perez followed Thomasson's two-bagger with a safe bunt and Bobby Murcer drove in a run with a grounder. Jim Barr held the Braves to three hits in seven innings before Randy Moffitt relieved and finished the game. [The Sporting News]
