While Steve Renko was holding his former teammates to five hits, Bill Madlock and Steve Swisher batted in two runs apiece to lead the Cubs to a 7-1 victory over the Expos. The Cubs started with a gift run in the first inning on a pass to Manny Trillo with the bases loaded. Madlock accounted for his two RBIs with a double in the second. Swisher homered with a man on base in the sixth when the Cubs put the game away with a four-run outburst. [The Sporting News]
