The Angels rallied for two runs in the ninth inning, with their winning tally coming on an error, to defeat the Red Sox, 5-4. Tony Solaita, who had hit a two-run homer in the sixth, led off the ninth with a double. After a bunt by Leroy Stanton, pinch-runner Rusty Torres came home on a sacrifice fly by Bob Jones to tie the score.

The Angels kept the inning going with singles by Terry Humphrey and Ron Jackson. Tommy Davis then hit a grounder to Butch Hobson and when the third baseman threw wildly, trying for a forceout at second, Humphrey scored the winning run. [The Sporting News]
