Atoning for two errors on one play in the seventh inning, Earl Williams drove in a run with a triple in the bottom half of the frame to give the Expos a 3-2 victory over the Giants. Larry Parrish accounted for the Expos' first two runs with a homer in the third.

The Giants, who had scored a run on a single by Ken Reitz in the second, pulled even in the seventh when Williams, playing first base, bobbled a grounder by Darrell Evans and then threw wildly. Evans reached third and scored on a double by Reitz. However, Williams came back with his triple to drive in Gary Carter with the Expos' winning run. [The Sporting News]
