Don Baylor batted in three runs and Ken McMullen accounted for two as the Athletics defeated the Brewers, 8-5. Bert Campaneris rapped four singles in four trips and scored twice. Campaneris was on base when Baylor homered in the first inning.

McMullen connected for the circuit in the second. Mike Torrez gained his 10th victory but needed last-out help from Rollie Fingers after the Brewers rallied for all their runs in the ninth, two scoring on a homer by Gorman Thomas. [The Sporting News]
