Putting himself into the game as a pinch-hitter, manager Frank Robinson singled in the ninth inning to cap a two-run rally that brought the Indians a 5-4 victory over the Rangers. Two unearned runs on errors by Larvell Blanks and Pat Dobson enabled the Rangers to take a 4-3 lead in the sixth.

John Lowenstein, hitless in 23 previous times at bat, sparked the Indians' uprising with a pinch-double in the ninth and scored the tying run on a single by Blanks. Rick Manning doubled, Blanks stopping at third. After an intentional pass to Rico Carty, Robinson ended the game with a long fly that went over the head of center fielder Juan Beniquez of the Rangers. [The Sporting News]
