Switch-hitting Roy White walloped two homers, one from each side of the plate, and also doubled to drive in five runs and lead the Yankees to an 8-6 victory over the Rangers. Ken Holtzman, who started on the mound for the Yankees, was kayoed in the second inning after giving up five runs.

The Yankees came back with White's first homer of the game in the third and then bounced ahead with five runs in the fifth, two scoring on White's double. Jim Sundberg homered for the Rangers in the eighth, but Fred Stanley singled in the ninth and White followed with his second round-tripper to win the game for the Yankees. [The Sporting News]
