A three-run homer by Gorman Thomas in the second inning and triples by Von Joshua and George Scott in the fifth paced the Brewers to a 6-4 victory over the Royals. Thomas' blow followed a single by Sixto Lezcano and pass to Tim Johnson.

Joshua led off the fifth with his triple and scored, breaking a 3-3 tie, on a sacrifice fly by Robin Yount. Scott then tripled and continued home when Frank White threw wild on the relay. The run became earned when Mike Hegan followed with an infield grounder on which Scott would have scored. [The Sporting News]
