The Dodgers erupted for four runs on two homers in the ninth inning and defeated the Mets, 6-5. The Mets counted four runs in the eighth, two scoring on a double by Joe Torre, and added a tally in the ninth for a 5-2 lead. Ted Sizemore and Bill Buckner set the Dodgers' rally in motion with singles and Steve Garvey hit a homer to tie the score and knock out Skip Lockwood.
