Carl Morton stroked three singles and drove in three runs to help himself to victory as the Braves defeated the Cardinals, 6-2. Pitching with a badly bruised left leg, Morton allowed 10 hits in 7 1/3 innings before yielding the mound to Adrian Devine. Morton singled to produce one of the Braves' two runs in the second inning.

With the score tied, 2-2, the Braves broke away with three runs in the sixth on consecutive singles by Ken Henderson, Rod Gilbreath and Darrel Chaney, an infield out by Vic Correll and single by Morton. The Braves' righthander added his third RBI with a single in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
