After getting a spark from a two-run double by John Mayberry in the eighth inning, the Royals scored four runs in the ninth and defeated the Brewers, 7-4. Von Joshua rapped three hits, including a homer, for the Brewers, who took a 4-1 lead before John Mayberry narrowed the Royals' deficit with his double.

In the ninth, Brewers' reliever Danny Frisella lost his control and walked Jamie Quirk, Bob Stinson and Frank White to load the bases. Ruppert Jones followed with an infield hit, driving in one run.
