Gary Matthews, who hit a two-run homer in the first inning, singled in the ninth and drove in Larry Herndon to bring the Giants a 4-3 victory over the Expos. The Giants held a 3-1 lead until Larry Parrish homered for the Expos with a man on base to tie the score in the eighth.
