Don Sutton pitched a five-hitter and Steve Garvey and Steve Yeager knocked in two runs apiece to lead the Dodgers to a 5-2 victory over the Mets. Garvey hit a homer with a man on base in the first inning. The Mets caught up with a similar blow by Jerry Grote in the seventh, but the Dodgers then beat Jerry Koosman with three runs in the eighth. Lee Lacy and Dusty Baker singled with one out and both crossed the plate on a double by Yeager. After Skip Lockwood relieved, Bill Buckner singled to drive in Yeager. [The Sporting News]
