Dave Parker ignited the Pirates' outburst, driving in their first two runs with a bases-loaded double. Richie Hebner, Rennie Stennett, Manny Sanguillen and Frank Taveras batted in the other counters, with the Pirates' final run crossing the plate on a double error by Larry Herndon, Giants' center fielder.
