Ken Brett and Dave Hamiiton combined on a six-hitter and pitched the White Sox to a 2-0 victory over the Brewers. The White Sox scored their runs in the eighth inning. Jorge Orta drew a walk and stole second. When Jim Spencer grounded to George Scott, Eduardo Rodriguez missed the bag covering first and was charged with an error.

The Brewers then brought in Bill Castro to relieve Rodriguez, but the move failed when Brian Downing and Chet Lemon each drove in a run with a single. Brett was hit on the hand by a line-drive single off the bat of Charlie Moore in the Brewers' half of the eighth and was forced to leave the game.
