Dave Goltz pitched a two-hitter and Steve Brye homered for three runs as the Twins won the first game of a twi-night doubleheader, 4-0, before the Brewers came back to take the second game, 6-3. Goltz held the Brewers hitless until Bill Sharp singled with one out in the seventh inning. Tim Johnson singled for the other hit with two out in the eighth. Goltz struck out 11 for his major league career high. In the nightcap, Jim Slaton pitched a five-hitter and gained the victory when the Brewers erupted for five runs in the seventh inning. Mike Hegan walked, Bernie Carbo doubled and Johnson singled to account for the first two runs to tie the score at 3-3.
