Charlie Hough picked up two saves, his 12th and 13th of the season, finishing both games in the Dodgers' 2-1 and 5-3 sweep of a twi-night doubleheader with the Expos. In the opener, the Dodgers scored both their runs in the fourth inning on consecutive singles by Bill Buckner, Reggie Smith, Steve Garvey and Ron Cey. The Expos counted off Don Sutton in the sixth on a walk to Wayne Garrett, double by Larry Parrish and sacrifice fly by Del Unser. Sutton was hit on his pitching hand by a grounder off the bat of Earl Williams in the ninth and left the mound in favor of Hough, who retired Jerry White for the final out.

In the nightcap, a tender elbow forced the exit of Dodgers' starter Rick Rhoden after three innings. Elias Sosa pitched the next four stanzas and Hough finished. Bill Buckner hit a double, two singles and a sacrifice fly, batted in two runs and scored two to lead the Dodgers' attack. [The Sporting News]
