The first Giants' batter to drive in five runs in one game this season, Bobby Murcer achieved the feat in a 10-7 victory over the Mets. Murcer batted in one run with a grounder in the first inning, drew a walk with the bases loaded in the third, homered with a man on base in the fourth and singled for his fifth RBI in the sixth.

John D'Acquisto started for the Giants and worked two innings before being removed after a 61-minute rain delay. Charlie Williams was kayoed in the third. Mike Caldwell relieved and received credit for his first victory of the season after seven defeats. However, Caldwell was chased in the eighth when the Mets erupted for four runs and Randy Moffitt finished. [The Sporting News]
