The White Sox counted their lone run in the first inning on singles by Ralph Garr and Jim Spencer around a stolen base. After Rod Carew drove in the tying tally with a single in the home half of the first, the Twins began pulling away when Roy Smalley singled, Carew walked and Lyman Bostock doubled for two runs in the third.
