A disputed three-run homer by Graig Nettles in the eighth inning powered the Yankees past the Red Sox, 6-5. Nettles 25th homer, which struck the wall behind the right-center field fence, bounced back onto the field and was first ruled in play, but first base umpire Joe Brinkman finally ruled the ball had cleared the fence.
