. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The Orioles collected 11 hits off Mark Fidrych and beat the Tigers, 5-3, but three of their runs off the colorful rookie were unearned. On the other hand, the Tigers scored their three runs on only one hit with the aid of two wild pitches by Wayne Garland, two walks, one hit batsman and a sacrifice fly.

With the score tied, 3-3, the Orioles loaded the bases in the seventh inning on two singles and an error. Tony Muser hit a sacrifice fly to drive in the tie-breaking tally and Doug DeCinces followed with a single for an insurance run. [The Sporting News]
