Dave Freisleben gained his first victory since August 16 when the Padres put together a pair of two-run outbursts to defeat the Dodgers, 4-2. In the fifth inning, Johnny Grubb drove in two runs with a single after the Padres had loaded the bases on a single by Jerry Turner and walks to Doug Rader and Freisleben. Then in the sixth, the other two runs crossed the plate when Willie Davis and Mike Ivie singled and Turner doubled. Steve Garvey batted in both Dodger runs with a single and homer.
