Bill Buckner's unwise attempt at a shoestring catch in the 11th inning set up the run that enabled the Giants to defeat the Dodgers, 1-0.Gary  Thomasson rapped a sinking line drive to open the 11th and when Buckner failed to come up with the ball, Thomasson wound up at second with a double. Mike Sadek sacrificed. Darrell Evans then batted for Ed Halicki and hit a sacrifice fly to score the game's lone run. [The Sporting News]
