After 6 1/3 innings of perfection, Rick Wise settled for a two-hitter while pitching the Red Sox to a 5-0 victory over the Tigers. Wise breezed through the first 19 batters before Phil Mankowski and Ben Oglivie singled in succession. Jim Rice gave Wise the only run he needed by crashing a homer in the second inning. Carlton Fisk singled in the fourth to extend his batting streak to 18 games. [The Sporting News]
