Breaking a tie with a two-run homer in the seventh inning, Gary Thomasson lifted the Giants to a 4-2 victory over the Dodgers. Bobby Murcer drove in the Giants' first two runs with a double in the first and single in the sixth.

The Dodgers pulled even in the sixth. Reggie Smith led off with a homer. Steve Garvey was safe on an error and Ron Cey singled. After a sacrifice, Garvey scored on a wild pitch. Chris Speier was on base with a single when Thomasson smashed his winning homer. [The Sporting News]
