The Expos put together a pair of two-run innings to defeat the Pirates, 4-2. In the second, Barry Foote doubled and scored on a single by Larry Parrish, who advanced on the throw and crossed the plate on a single by Pete Mackanin. A single by Earl Williams, double by Parrish and wild throw by Frank Taveras added the Expos' other counters in the third. The Pirates had the potential tying runs on base in the ninth, but Woodie Fryman retired pinch-hitter Al Oliver on a grounder to end the game. [The Sporting News]
