After the Athletics tied the score with a homer in the ninth inning and went ahead with two circuit clouts in the 10th, the Rangers rallied for three runs to gain a 5-4 victory. Gene Tenace rapped a round-tripper that knotted the count at 2-2. Bert Campaneris and Don Baylor hit homers in the 10th.

In the Rangers' half, Vida Blue gave up one run on three hits before leaving the game with one out. Rollie Fingers passed Mike Hargrove intentionally and then walked Dave Moates to force in the second run.
