The Orioles, after winning the first game, 5-1, scored two runs in the seventh inning on a pass with the bases loaded and a wild pitch to defeat the Brewers in the second game, 3-2, to complete the sweep of a twi-night doubleheader. In the opener, Reggie Jackson homered in the first inning and singled, stole second and scored in both the third and the eighth. The Orioles also had a homer by Lee May in the sixth.

The Orioles, who were trailing in the nightcap, 2-1, began the seventh with a double by Brooks Robinson and infield hit by Rick Dempsey, Robinson holding second. The runners moved along on an infield out by Al Bumbry. Rich Dauer singled, scoring pinch-runner Bob Bailor. Colborn walked Jackson intentionally to load the bases.
