Rico Carty and Boog Powell batted in two runs apiece to help the Indians edge the Red Sox, 6-5. The Indians scored twice in the first inning on a single by Frank Duffy, double by Buddy Bell and single by George Hendrick. Carty drove in a run with a double in the third and hit a homer in the sixth. The Indians then loaded the bases and Powell provided the decisive hit with a pinch-single, batting in two runs.
