Winning for the 21st time, Jim Palmer pitched the Orioles to a 3-1 victory over the Brewers. Palmer gave up six hits, but only two after the fourth inning, and retired 15 of the last 17 batters. Reggie Jackson, who hit a homer and single, scored two of the Orioles' runs. George Scott spoiled Palmer's bid for a shutout with a circuit clout in the eighth inning. [The Sporting News]
