Posting his third shutout of the season, Doyle Alexander allowed only four hits and pitched the Yankees to a 2-0 victory over the Indians. The Yankees settled Alexander's duel with Rick Waits by scoring a run in the first inning on a single by Thurman Munson and double by Lou Piniella.
