For the second successive night, Butch Hobson smashed a game-winning homer for the Red Sox, who defeated the Brewers, 4-3. In the previous night's contest, the rookie third baseman came up with a man on base in the fifth inning and homered to give the Red Sox a 2-1 victory.

This time, Hobson whacked his winning blow with Cecil Cooper aboard in the ninth. All Brewer runs came on round-trippers. Dan Thomas hit a solo swat in the fourth and George Scott connected for the circuit following a double by Charlie Moore in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
