Wayne Garrett drove in two runs with a homer and Andre Dawson accounted for two with a triple to lead the Expos to a 9-5 victory over the Cardinals. Garrett's round-tripper tied the score at 2-2 in the second inning. Garry Templeton, the Cards' rookie shortstop, committed three errors, one with one out in the third, leading to four unearned runs for the Expos.

Del Unser was safe on Templeton's boot and scored on singles by Mike Jorgensen and Ellis Valentine. Dawson followed with his triple and crossed the plate himself on a single by Gary Carter. Gerry Hannahs gained credit for his first major league victory. Jerry Mumphrey and Hector Cruz homered for the Cardinals. [The Sporting News]
