Graig Nettles, who leads the league in homers, smashed his 28th of the season following a single by Chris Chambliss in the fourth inning to provide the Yankees with their winning margin in a 5-3 victory over the Brewers. The Yankees scored three times in the first with the aid of a triple by Lou Piniella, but the Brewers rallied for a matching trio in the third, two of their tallies counting on a double by Mike Hegan.
