Nolan Ryan set a major league record for strikeouts, going over the 300 mark for the fourth time in his career, but the Angels' fireballer also walked eight and lost to the Twins, 6-0. Ryan fanned 11, bringing his season's total to 302. The Twins collected only three hits off Ryan in his seven innings on the mound, but they included a homer by Dan Ford in the third and two-run double by Steve Braun in the fourth.
