. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Four innings of two-hit relief pitching by Tom Murphy enabled the Red Sox to defeat the Yankees, 7-5. The Red Sox, in turning back Ed Figueroa's bid for his 20th victory, picked up two runs on a homer by Butch Hobson in the second inning and then wiped out the Yankees' 4-3 lead with three runs in the fourth. Denny Doyle batted in a pair with a triple and scored on a double by Rick Miller. Jim Rice accounted for the final run with a homer in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
