Bill Campbell, the Twins' ace reliever, broke the A. L. record for innings pitched in one season by a relief pitcher while finishing a 9-1 victory over the Rangers. Campbell worked the last two innings to raise his total to 165 2/3, eclipsing the former mark of 165 by Eddie Fisher of the White Sox in 1965. Rod Carew batted in two runs for the Twins with a homer and Mike Cubbage accounted for two more with a double. [The Sporting News]
