An error by Reggie Jackson in the fifth inning led to three unearned runs and enabled the Brewers to defeat the Yankees, 3-2. After a long run, Jackson dropped a fly by Jim Wohlford, who reached second base.

Following a sacrifice, Wohlford beat the throw to the plate on a grounder by Von Joshua, who was safe at first. Joshua stole second and scored on a single by Robin Yount. Cecil Cooper also singled, sending Yount to third, and Sal Bando then drove in what proved to be the deciding run with an infield out. [The Sporting News]
