The Expos shocked the crowd of 43,367 at the Philadelphia opener by smashing three homers in one inning to defeat the Phillies. 4-3. Greg Luzinski batted in the Phils' runs with a bases-loaded double in the third inning.

Dave Cash, appearing against his former club, singled for the Expos in the sixth and, with one out, Ellis Valentine and Tony Perez hit back-to-back homers to tie the score. One out later, Gary Carter also connected off Steve Carlton for the Expos' winning run. [The Sporting News]
