As in their opening 12-6 victory, the Cardinals stepped off with four runs in the first inning and beat the Pirates for the second straight time. 8-2. A triple by Lou Brock and double by Ted Simmons punctuated the Cards' fast start. Bake McBride homered in the second inning and Keith Hernandez hit for the circuit in the seventh.
