After escaping defeat in the ninth inning, the Mariners combined two singles and a balk for a run in the 13th to edge the Twins, 3-2. The Twins took a 2-1 lead in the top half of the ninth when Mike Cubbage singled and Butch Wynegar homered.

In the home half, Ruppert Jones tripled but was thrown out trying to score on a grounder by Bill Stein. Jose Baez ran for Stein and counted the tying run on singles by Dan Meyer and Tommy Smith. In the 13th, Larry Milbourne singled, took second on a balk by Tom Burgmeier and scored the winning run on a single by Steve Braun. [The Sporting News]
